Paying tribute to the 40-year history of Australian brand Perri Cutten, the Manuka project marks the beginning of an ongoing collaboration between Brahman Perera and the brand, creating a layered experience deeply rooted in the local context. The boutique’s interiors combine quality materials, timeless shapes and bespoke details, reflecting the modern femininity that characterises the brand’s identity.
The robustness of the original structure is softened by biscuit-coloured plaster, interspersed with wooden displays that allow for different ways of presenting the garments. Mirrored panels and solid wood bases recall the display methods of art galleries, while a series of curved displays in the centre of the boutique serve as the beating heart of the space.
An intense primary red, like a touch of lipstick, evokes the confidence and personality of Perri Cutten. The simple, linear furnishings are inspired by Donald Judd’s minimalist works and furniture, while the travertine counter creates a solid base that contrasts with the raw silk curtains in the background. Collections of furnishings, artwork and lighting designed by local artisans help to root the boutique in the Australian context.
At the entrance, the choice of the Novecento pendant lamp with a white Rigadin diffuser becomes a real focal point, evoking the timeless elegance and craftsmanship of the brand. The fluid and harmonious shapes of the lamp interact with the concept of the boutique, enhancing the experience of the space and emphasising the link between light, design and the identity of the Perri Cutten brand.
