The history of glass beads

Continuation of the collaboration with the Murano Glass Museum - September 11-13, 2021 - Palazzo Mocenigo Museum - Santa Croce 1992 – 30135 Venice

Vistosi’s historic collaboration with the Museo del Vetro Di Murano continues.
Here, in the prestigious venue on the island of Murano, in one of the marvellous rooms, a stupendous Giogali waterfall is on display, whose iconic hook was designed in 1967 by Maestro Angelo Mangiarotti and made in our historic glassworks, the heart of the oldest know-how.
Vistosi has always supported the museum over the years, also participating in the printing of the precious book “Il mondo in una perla, la collezione del Museo del vetro di Murano” (“The world in a pearl, the collection of the Murano Glass Museum”), which collects and recounts the history and production of these glass jewels, part of which is kept inside the display cases, in a dedicated room, born from a long cataloguing process that began in the 14th century and continues to the present day.
Objects of inherent value, which have entered the history of design, will be the subject of a three-day conference organised by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia from 11 to 13 September in a room of the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum in Venice during the week dedicated to THE VENICE GLASS WEEK. Vistosi, has decided to be Main Partner of this kermesse that will animate Venice and its islands from 4 to 12 September and Sponsor of these three days of meetings that will begin by trying to answer the question: Who invented glass beads? In fact, this intriguing question will be the starting point of the three-day conference, curated by Augusto Panini, an international pearl expert. Prestigious speakers will tell the story of these small artefacts, from remote antiquity to the 20th century, presenting the results of the most recent studies and placing the production of Venetian beads within this fascinating story, which involves all continents and civilisations. The production of glass beads will be approached from multiple points of view: production, artistic, technical, commercial, economic.
