Knowledge of materials, design and technical expertise were the starting point for creating his team of craftsmen and specialists along with an extraordinary network of producers and production specialists.
Matthias Hickl was born in 1962 in Munich, Germany.
EDUCATION
From 1983 to 1985 he did an internship in Metal Design and achieved the second best result in Germany.
From 1986 to 1991 he studied industrial design, painting and sculpture at the University of Fine Arts in Brunswick.
In 1990 he graduated in industrial design from the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg.
CAREER
In 1990 Hickl opened the STYX studio, responsible for furniture and design, continuing his work as a painter and sculptor. In 2002 he obtained a master’s degree in metal design to become, the following year (2003), artistic and creative director of Lissoni Associati and head of international interior and design projects.
In the same period he was Art Director of the Nicoletta Canesi, NMM Inc studio, where he frequently traveled between Miami and the rest of the USA.
Over the years, Hickl has overseen many international interior design and architecture projects.
In fact, with the collaboration of architects and interior designers, he has created projects in Venice, Milan, Berlin, Beverly Hills, New York, Atlanta and Tokyo.
TODAY
The collaboration with Studio Lissoni and Cannesi is long-standing and current.
His workshop in Berlin is growing steadily. Hickl and his team of top craftsmen and specialists continuously experiment with metals, different materials and new techniques.
The company has built up a network of suppliers, manufacturers and specialists who are one of its most important strengths.
At the same time he continues to design for well-known design companies such as Living Divani, Vistosi, Elie Tahari and Boffi.
