We are proud to have participated in the limited edition project by atelier oï for Rossana Orlandi, contributing to the creation of unique artworks that explore diverse materials and craftsmanship, exemplifying a personal and refined artistic vision. This collaboration represents another chapter in the long and fruitful partnership with atelier oï, a studio with which we have been working for many years.
The sky, with its dynamic and living nature, constantly changing under the influence of the wind and the passage of time, has been an inexhaustible source of inspiration for this project. Its vast spectrum of colors and continuously moving lines have driven us to materialize the moments of inspiration that captivate us.
The inspiration for this light installation comes from crepuscular rays, diverging lines of light that intersect with shadows, a natural phenomenon occurring after sunset, marking the transition into night. In Greek mythology, each hour is personified as a deity, collectively representing the divisions of time. The names Dysi and Dysa are inspired by the eleventh and the penultimate hour of the day, which embody the sunset – known as ‘Dysis’.
This initial series includes 2 major works, Dysa, and 2 minor works, Dysi. These light installations are distinguished by size and character, each one unique in its kind. The works include an opalescent blown glass sphere, developed by our expert Murano glass artisans, and two metallic arches. The dark steel arches extend the copper springs, creating interconnected spaces and representing opposing forces in a delicate balance, meeting at a point of perfect harmony.
The light emanating from the base of the glass sphere charges the springs with luminous vitality, creating an atmosphere that makes the observer wonder whether the light radiates from within the blown glass sphere or from the top of the structure. We are thrilled to have collaborated on this extraordinary collection, which stands as a symbol of excellence and refinement, and to continue working with atelier oï, with whom we share a long history of innovation and creativity.
