We are pleased to invite you to the inauguration of the ADI Design Index 2024, which will take place on October 30 at the ADI Design Museum in Milan. This event will offer a unique opportunity to explore the latest developments in contemporary design, featuring a selection of 219 products ranging from furniture to transportation, from social design to exhibition setups, alongside 22 theoretical studies and 20 projects from students of Italian design universities. The exhibition will provide a comprehensive overview of today’s Italian design, opening the path towards the prestigious 2026 Compasso d’Oro Award.
Vistosi will be present with its Anisette Collection, selected by the ADI Permanent Observatory as one of the creations participating in this journey towards the Compasso d’Oro. We are excited to share this important recognition and present our creations in a context that celebrates the excellence of Italian design and the commitment to the revitalization of artisanal and industrial products and processes. Two other collections of ours, Plissé and Groove, also took part in the selection process. Although they were not included in the final selection curated by the ADI Permanent Observatory, they received an important acknowledgment. The collections stood out for their high quality, innovative elements, and research, representing the essence of Made in Italy and significantly contributing to the prestige of Italian design internationally.
The exhibition will be open in Milan from October 30 to November 17, 2024, at the ADI Design Museum in Piazza Compasso d’Oro 1. Afterwards, the exhibition will move to Rome, at Spazio WeGil, from November 25 to 30, 2024. Two other collections of ours, Plissé and Groove, also participated in the selection process. Although they were not included in the final selection curated by the ADI Permanent Observatory, they received an important acknowledgment. The collections stood out for their high quality, innovative elements, and research, representing the essence of Made in Italy and significantly contributing to the prestige of Italian design internationally.
Vistosi has been a prominent player in the world of design and refined luxury, making history in the ADI DESIGN INDEX. First with DIADEMA by Romani Saccani Architetti Associati in 2006, then NODO by Pio and Tito Toso in 2016, in the 2020 edition with a double mention for ARMONIA by Francesco Lucchese
and with MEDEA by Oriano Favaretto. Both collections were selected by the ADI Design Permanent Observatory, composed of over 150 members, and exhibited at the new ADI Design Museum in Milan. Additionally, the collections are featured in the prestigious publication of over 400 pages, with introductory essays by leading figures in the fields of design and culture.
Once again, the DESIGN INDEX 2024 has chosen Vistosi this year as a candidate for the 2026 Compasso d’Oro with ANISETTE, designed by Francesco Lucchese, a designer who has already been awarded the Compasso d’Oro for several projects in recent years.
Anisette will also make history as it will be included in the valuable new edition published by ADI.
We look forward to welcoming you and discovering the best of contemporary design together!
COMPASSO D’ORO AND ADI DESIGN INDEX
The “Compasso d’Oro ADI Design Index” represents one of the most prestigious international awards in the field of industrial design. Established in Italy in 1954, the award owes its origin to the will of Gio Ponti and a group of entrepreneurs and professionals with a passion for design, including the famous home appliance product company Olivetti. Since then, the Compasso d’Oro has become a symbol of excellence and innovation, rewarding the best design products and their creators.
The ADI (Association for Industrial Design) took over the award in 1956, with the aim of promoting and enhancing Italian design, contributing to its worldwide dissemination and recognition. ADI is responsible not only for selecting and awarding prizes but also for promoting activities, events and publications related to the world of design.
The selection process for the Compasso d’Oro winners is rigorous and has several stages. Initially, the ADI Design Index, published annually, collects products that have been recommended by a committee of experts. These products represent Italian design excellence in different categories, ranging from furniture to mobility, from consumer electronics to services. The publication of the ADI Design Index is the first step toward the Compasso d’Oro: only products listed in the Index can aspire to the prestigious award.
Next, an international jury of experts, designers, critics, historians and specialized journalists evaluates the products selected for inclusion in the ADI Design Index, deciding which ones deserve the Compasso d’Oro. This jury evaluates not only the innovation and functionality of the products but also their sustainability, production ethics and social impact. The awards ceremony is held every two years and is a highlight for the design world, providing international visibility for the winners.
The Compasso d’Oro is more than just an award. It is a recognition of Italian design excellence in the world, an incentive for companies and designers to pursue innovation and quality. In addition, the award helps to spread design culture by raising awareness of the importance of design in daily life and the economy.
Through the years, the Compasso d’Oro has awarded some of the most iconic products of Italian design, becoming a benchmark for professionals and enthusiasts alike. The collection of award-winning products, along with related documentary materials, is preserved by the ADI Collezione Compasso d’Oro Foundation, which is also responsible for promoting the knowledge and study of design.
The Compasso d’Oro ADI Design Index is not just an award but a true ecosystem that supports, promotes and celebrates design excellence, contributing significantly to its development and dissemination globally. The ADI Design Index is an annual publication that collects the best Italian design products selected for the prestigious ADI Compasso d’Oro award. This initiative, curated by the Association for Industrial Design (ADI), aims to enhance and promote the excellence of Italian design in the world. Among the various sectors explored in this publication is lighting, where historical and innovative brands such as Vistosi stand out.
Vistosi is an Italian company with a history spanning more than five centuries, specializing in the creation of Murano glass lamps and lighting systems. Their mastery of the art of glassmaking, combined with continuous research in design and technology, has enabled Vistosi to stand out in the international interior design scene. Vistosi products are known for their quality, elegance and innovation, aspects that perfectly reflect the values promoted by the ADI Design Index.
The inclusion of Vistosi products in the ADI Design Index testifies to the recognition of their excellence in design and production. This selection is significant because ADI applies strict criteria when selecting products, considering not only aesthetics and innovation, but also sustainability, functionality and social impact. For Vistosi, appearing in this publication is therefore an important confirmation of the quality of their work and their ability to keep alive a tradition of craftsmanship while interpreting it in a contemporary key.
Vistosi’s presence in the ADI Design Index also helps to keep the focus on Italian design in lighting, a sector in which Italy excels thanks to its ability to combine tradition and innovation. Vistosi’s creations, characterized by unique design and cutting-edge production, are emblematic examples of how Italian design continues to influence and inspire the world of furniture and lighting internationally.
The ADI Design Index plays a fundamental role in recognizing and promoting excellence in design, and the presence of brands like Vistosi within this publication underscores the significance of Italian design on the global stage. Vistosi’s creations not only celebrate the rich heritage of Murano’s glass art, but also demonstrate how innovation and creativity can lead to new expressions of contemporary design.
