Vistosi with Plissé wins special prize: The Art of Glass

IX edition of the Venetian Smart Lighting Award

The event and award ceremony took place yesterday, Thursday, July 11, 2024, in the splendid setting of Palazzo Ca’ Tron, located in the Santa Croce district, in the heart of Venice. For almost a decade, the Luce in Veneto Business Network has been recognizing the excellence of the lighting sector within the network and the Veneto region. Vistosi was one of the five finalists competing for the special prize in the Art of Glass category. The jury was chaired by Bianca Tresoldi, president of APIL and a lighting designer, and included other prominent figures such as Alberto Pasetti Bombardella, architect and lighting designer; Laura Bellia, president of AIDI and professor at the University of Naples Federico II; Alberto Bassi, design critic and professor at the IUAV University of Venice; and Roberto Beraldo, architect, president of the Order of Architects PPC of Venice and Vice President of the APPC Foundation of Venice. Each member of the jury assessed the excellence of each nominated lamp and selected the winner in each category, reserving the right to award a Special Mention for the meritorious work of a company distinguished in stylistic research, design, and innovation. Vistosi, with its Plissé collection, wins for its demonstrated ability to explore the artistic possibilities of glass, enhancing its quality in a combination of tradition, research, and experimentation. A highly successful lamp that has already won the Archiproduct Awards in 2023 and is currently nominated and selected for important awards such as the IF, the Good DesignAwards, at the ADI Design Index that will name the winners in the coming months. Plissé, presented for the first time by Vistosi at the last edition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan last April, responded exactly to the jury’s demands for its concept by combining design, material, craftsmanship and sustainability in a perfect union.
Translated with DeepL.com (free version) The new suspension is the brainchild of designers Chiaramonte & Marin, analysed and developed by Vistosi’s R&D department and realised by its master glassmakers in collaboration with the company’s in-house workshop. The suspension lamp is characterised by a generously sized diffuser made of blown glass that conceals an inner fabric shade, creating a play of transparencies, colours and textures that give Plissè a unique elegance, capable of characterising and adding personality to its surroundings. The diffuser is available in dark amber, smoked, burnt earth, old green or transparent crystal. The metal frame, on the other hand, is available with a matt steel or matt bronze finish. Equipped with LED light source, this collection captivates with its beauty and versatility in stylishly illuminating spaces. A special thanks to Luce in Veneto, who, together with the sponsors and the organization, made the realization of this wonderful event possible.
