Summer Rain is a bespoke light installation created by Vistosi for the Lazari Investments headquarters in London. The project forms part of a series of artistic installations dedicated to the four natural elements and interprets the theme of water through the poetic image of summer rain.

The inspiration stems from those moments when rain falls whilst the sun continues to shine, transforming every drop into a golden reflection. From this vision emerges an installation designed to bring a sense of lightness and movement to an architectural space defined by the monumental presence of a handcrafted stone staircase. The project thus unfolds as a dialogue between contrasts: the solidity of the material and the lightness of water, the permanence of architecture and the ephemeral beauty of rain illuminated by the sun.

The installation consists of 250 hand-blown glass droplets, suspended at varying heights to evoke the natural movement of rain. Of these, 92 droplets contain gold dust, whilst 158 contain trapped air bubbles, creating a variety of reflections and translucent effects.

The 3000K LED light sources are integrated into bespoke brushed brass fixtures and illuminate each droplet with precision and subtlety. The lighting control system adjusts the light intensity over time, simulating the variations of natural light and creating the illusion of falling droplets.

Crafted by the master glassmakers of Murano, each drop is created from a mixture of silica sand, soda and limestone, enriched with metal oxides and minerals. The organic shapes and transparency of the glass allow light to refract and diffuse throughout the space, creating a sparkling effect reminiscent of rain illuminated by the sun.

The result is a large light installation that welcomes visitors at the entrance to the building and sets the tone for the space with an elegant, light and deeply evocative presence.
