Mogliano 16 January 2023. From 27 January to 23 April 2023 Triennale Milano presents the exhibition Angelo Mangiarotti. When structures take shape, curated by Fulvio Irace, with Francesca Albani, Franz Graf (architecture section), Luca Pietro Nicoletti (sculpture section), Marco Sammicheli (design section), and with the support of Giulio Barazzetta. The historic Venetian glass factory Vistosi, is one of the two technical sponsors, the only one in the lighting sector, selected for the exhibition dedicated to Angelo Mangiarotti. The exhibition will be held at the Triennale Milano from from 27th January to 23rd April 2023. In fact, the company owes to the creative genius of Maestro Mangiarotti the modular lamp system composed of a single, innovative hand-crafted crystal element: the Giogali hook. ‘We could hardly fail to pay homage to Angelo Mangiarotti,’ comments Matteo Moretti, C.E.O. by Vistosi ‘Giogali, designed in 1967, has become an icon for us, making us recognisable all over the world. The Maestro’s work on the ‘module’ in both architecture and design reaches one of the highest points of his research with Giogali. The hook element he developed and patented for the first time in 1967 is not only an example of technical-productive efficiency, simplification of lines and ‘design of the essential’, but also research into the extreme limits of the material, Murano art glass. Glass, fragile par excellence, becomes structure: this is how architecture becomes design! In fact, his projects highlight the importance of the recurring element, but also the indispensable need he placed in the precise and profound study of materials: the Giogali system, which Vistosi chooses to present here at the Triennale as a precious curtain of pure shining crystal, is part of this vein. Two large curtains, almost five metres high, with more than 6000 hooks, create the perfect setting for the works on display, becoming the focal point of the visitor’s attention.” Vistosi is recognised worldwide as a historic and traditional artisan industry 2.0 that has grown over the years, earning well-deserved and important acknowledgements both in terms of product, such as the recent two Honourable Mentions at the XXVI Edition of the Compasso D’oro Award, or the institutional award received at Montecitorio for being one of the one hundred most representative Italian companies of Made in Italy in the world. With the strength of one of the most traditional glassfactory still existing and with the consultancy of the in-house research and development department, Vistosi has completed important custom projects for international clients and brands, especially in the Luxury Retailer and Hospitality sectors, many of which with large-scale installations all over the world, such as in the lobby of Café Royal in London and Doha Airport, Qatar, in the suites of the Four Seasons in Toronto or in the Hotel Baglioni in Italy to name but a few. Moretti concludes: “Over the years, we have tried to keep the Maestro’s work alive by participating in the many stages of the ‘Tectonics of Assembly’ tour, and this new appointment makes us even more proud to be able to contribute to continuing his story.”
